How much is a hunt?
All inclusive, semi-guided hunts, at Deerfield Plantation start from $1,800 per hunter.
Why should I choose Deerfield Plantation?
Deerfield Plantation is focused on quality, not quantity. A limited number of hunters are taken in order to maximize the experience and effectiveness of the overall hunting experience of our South Carolina guided hunting packages.
Why book a South Carolina guided deer hunt?
South Carolina deer hunting season starts early enough to give hunters a legitimate opportunity to take a buck still in velvet. Most modern rifles can be used all season long for deer hunting in South Carolina, especially in the lowcountry of SC where Deerfield Plantation is located. Many states have very short rifle seasons, if any modern rifle seasons at all, but South Carolina offers hunters the ability to hunt with the weapon of their choice, at the time of their choice.
Is there a minimum number of days to hunt?
Yes. Deerfield Plantation requires a 3 day minimum.
Can a non-hunter come with a hunting group?
Yes. An additional non-hunter can join any hunting party for an additional $300 per day.
Do I need a hunting license?
Yes. Every hunter will need the appropriate hunting license and tags as determined by SC Department of Natural Resources. For license information or to purchase your license and tags please visit https://www.dnr.sc.gov/.
When is South Carolina deer hunting season?
South Carolina deer hunting season in the Lowcountry begins on August 15th and runs through January 1st. The time frame from August 15th-September 14th is buck only.
When is South Carolina turkey hunting season?
Turkey season typically begins the first Friday of April and runs through the first Monday of May.
Is there a season for South Carolina hog hunting?
No. Hogs can be taken all year long at Deerfield Plantation. Hogs cannot be baited from mid-March through the end of turkey season per South Carolina law.
What weapons can be used to hunt?
Deerfield Plantation accommodates hunting with shotguns, handguns, rifles, crossbows, and bows.
Is lodging included in the price?
Yes. Lodging in our historic plantation house is included.
Is food included in the price?
Yes. Each morning there is a continental breakfast, lunch will be provided after the morning hunt, and dinner will be served nightly either before the evening hunt or after, depending on the time of year.
Where is Deerfield located?
Deerfield is located in St. George SC in the lowcountry of South Carolina. Just off of I26 and I95 the property is about 1 hour from Columbia SC and historic Charleston SC.
What should I bring?
Of course you should bring all of your hunting gear; pack, weapon of choice, ammunition, binoculars or range finder, flashlight, and we always recommend you bring a ThermaCell or something comparable for mosquitoes.
Do you charge trophy fees?
We do not charge trophy fees. There are some areas of our property where we have more specific requirements for bucks, but you will not be charged anything additional for shooting a buck that meets the legal requirements and the policies we have in place in the area you are hunting. You will be told prior to the hunt what buck restrictions are in place in the area you are hunting.
What kind of stands do you hunt?
Deerfield Plantation has over 300 stands scattered throughout the property. There are options for hunters of all skill levels, physical abilities, and preferred method of hunting. We hunt out of tripods, elevated box blinds, fiberglass shooting houses, lean-up stands, lock-ons, and ground blinds.
