Deerfield Plantation
St. George, South Carolina - (843)563-7927

Deerfield Plantation is located in the heart of South Carolina's Lowcountry "Deerbelt" and is a working plantation with corn, soybeans, peas, wheat, oats, rye and coastal Bermuda fields. We offer three hundred permanent deer stands in two main hunting areas. In our regular hunting area, (over 7,000 acres), all bucks must have a minimum of four points. The points must be at least one inch long. In our trophy management area, (over 3,000 acres), any buck harvested must have 8 points and a 15 inch spread. The trophy area is hunted only in the afternoons. Beginning September 15th, you may harvest a buck or doe in our regular hunting area.

Lots of Deer
Our stands are selectively placed in highly active deer areas. We offer 80 shooting houses. Most are overlooking agricultural fields, food plots, and supplemental feeding stations. In addition to the shooting houses there are over one hundred 12 foot high tripods with shooting rails. These stands are located in cutovers and pine plantations. Others are strategically placed in hardwood swamps and runs. The balance of the stands are mostly moveable lean-up stands with shooting rails.

A typical day at Deerfield starts with a wake up call at approximately an hour and a half before sunrise. A continental breakfast is offered at this time. Afterwards, an experienced guide will take you to your stand before the morning hunt. Between 10:00 and 11:00, depending on the time of year, you will be picked up and brought back to the lodge for lunch. Then the afternoon hunt will begin between 2:00 and 4:00 again depending on the time of year. You will hunt until dark. A guide will once again pick you up and return you to the lodge for the evening meal.

Deerfield Plantation follows the guidelines and recommendations of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, The Quality Deer Management Association, and our own independent biologist.
